Askennonia's Annual Honour Our Veterans Luncheon was a great success, with nearly 250 Veterans and community members enjoying a Swiss Chalet Chicken dinner, thanks to Ken King, owner of the Midland store. (Ken gives all Askennonia members 15% discount anytime!) Each attendee received a lovely gift from sponsors The Villa & Bayfield House Retirement Lodges. Midland's Matt Playne, a local 16 year old St Theresa's student told the story of his 2008 participation as a Canadian Idol finalist. He played some of the songs he played for the judges of the competition. He did a great job. Many thanks to the line dancers, who provided homemade pie, as well as, set up, served and cleaned up after the luncheon. This annual event is one of our most rewarding, as it gives us all a chance to say thanks.
